i have become recently intrigued by dubai. it seems like a tiny utopian society. i decided to search it and the official portal of dubai government website has this banner at the top of its page. it says: "TOGETHER to ease your life." that sounds like health insurance to me. it all seems a bit wonky. i mean, they are creating 300 man made islands all to form the map of the world, off the coast. it is all so crazy, yet so interesting.and that hotel..the burj al arab. ridiculously dreamy. i'm just a little smitten with the nautical architecture--the way all the parallel lines run alongside each other. seeing as it is in the shape of a sailboat sail and on the ocean, days could be spent pretending to be on an epic adventure across the sea. as opulent and outrageously expensive as it is, i still find myself drawn to it. there seems to be this enchanting, futuristic appeal.
anywhere you can play tennis extended high above crystal blue waters has potential to be a brilliant place, i guess--despite its bizarre and completely overdone aspects. it definitely looks wonderful for escape.
